Online Event Example: Trade Show Promotion

Maryland Technology Showcase (2002)

This annual one-day event attracts many of Maryland’s state government IT managers and buyers to Baltimore each December. This online event was conducted in May and June well prior to the Showcase itself. The objectives of this project were to:Maryland Technology Showcase Online

  • promote the brand well ahead of the single day event itself
  • identify audience interests
  • enlist exhibitors and attendees
  • create content that could be repurposed and used at the event or elsewhere
  • gain experience with community-building capabilities of web events

The event attracted companies and state agency representatives and helped the event producers focus on the technology issues uppermost in the minds of those who would be attending the event.
